“One side wakes before the other.”
A single oval split down the centre. The left half is drawn — a black contour line finding brow, nose, and jaw across a bare ground. The right half is solid oxblood, closed, with only a lid and a lip given to it.
The mouth is the join. It is the one element that belongs to both halves, and it is finished in the same red as the solid side.
The most restrained piece in the collection: three colours, one form, and a lot of empty ground left deliberately empty.
